Rangiora Players News

26/08/2011Pocket Panto Sold Out! This is great news, and we hope a foretelling of more success with our junior theatre programme.
29/05/2011Our next production is a junior production, and we've had a few moments getting to this point, but we finally have a show selected, and are about to launch into the production. Looks like it'll be another corker!
22/03/2011Like most everyone else, the earthquakes have disrupted the Players, and the Town Hall was out of action for a while. So to provide some sorely needed humour, we are presenting Another Night of British Comedy, a guaranteen night of giggles for all.
12/12/2010Well, thats A Rough Night all done with; those who saw it will know it was a cracking show, an all junior production. I wonder what (and when, and where!) the next Players production will be...
22/11/2010Tickets for Rough Night at the North Pole, a cracking one act Christmassy themed comedy from writer Craig Alpaugh go on sale today, for just $5. This is our first "junior" production for many years, and its shaping up to be a cracker!
30/03/2010We got a big mention in the Northern Outlook today - an article about our clubrooms, our next show, and the director of our next show. The article can be seen is on the About Us page - do have a look! Thanks, Northern Outlook.
25/02/2010Today we are calling for auditions for "Fawlty Towers" the wonderful British sitcom. Despite the fact that only a dozen episodes were produced, this programme has established itself with legendary status. Now the Players are proud to bring this sitcom to life on the Rangiora stage.
19/09/2009Our entry into the 2009 Selwyn Short Play Festival, "Last Tango in Rangiora" was awarded Best Play, and also a personal award to TIm Andrews for Best Supporting Actor. Well done all!
23/07/2009Brassed Off has finally been cast, after an audition process lasting over three weeks, with a total of 31 auditionees, an excellent turnout. Now the work starts in bringing this show to life. With a big cast, the logistics of rehearsals are going to be... interesting.

The production will be staged at the Rangiora Town Hall, opening Wednesday 4th November, and continuing to the Saturday. Tickets information to be announced soon.

31/03/2009

Finally the tickets for Ben Elton's "Gasping" are on sale, but not only from our traditional retailers, Harrington Gemtime Jewellers and the Kaiapoi Visitor Centre, but tickets can now be purchased online right here on the Players website.

Just click on the brightly coloured link on the Ben Elton's Gasping page.

We look forward to seeing you at the show.

21/02/2009Well, its now 2009, and a happy new year to all, and the Players are looking forward to the next production, Ben Elton's Gasping. This is a satirical look at big business, and it has to be said, the script is just what you would expect from Elton. Its both funny, and thought provoking.

The production will be staged at the Rangiora Town Hall from 6th to 9th of May inclusive.

We're also pretty sure what our following production will be, but there are still too many loose ends to go announcing anything yet!

11/09/2008Everyone who has seen the rehearsals for 'Family has laughed themselves silly, and this despite the fact the cast still have scripts in hands. This show really does have a great feelgood factor to it. This is the first time we've worked with director Garry Thomas, who has directed several shows for Riccarton Players and Elmwood Players, and it is indeed a pleasure to welcome Garry to Rangiora. Garry has also brought a few actors with him, so there will be fresh faces to be seen on the stage soon.
03/07/2008Auditions are called for cast to perform "It Runs in the Family" by Ray Cooney to be staged in the Rangiora Town Hall 15-18 October 2008. Cast comprises of 7 males and 5 females with the age range from late teens to 50's. Auditions will be held in the Rangiora Players clubrooms, Northbrook Road, Saturday 26 July. For enquiries / audition time please phone Julie on 03-313-3721.
01/07/2008Earnest is now behind us, giving us a brief opportunity to look back, at how all the work put in by many people, cast and crew, all paid off giving us a show that suceeded in every way. As ever, we thank the folks who came to see it, without you we could not put on these productions. We now look forwad to It Runs in the Family...
14/05/2008Its full steam ahead for The Importance of Being Earnest, rehearsals are progressing well, and tickets are now on sale. We've also got a meal deal going, for those patrons who would like to make an evening of their trip to Rangiora
21/12/2007Not much happened on the website, but Steel Magnolias was presented, and was well received, but we've got the message that it was too late in the year... Looking forward to the Christmas break, and then it all starts again next year. What will be our first presentation? Well, you'll have to wait a while to find out...
22/05/2007Well, thats Take a chance on me done and dusted, the show was reviewed well, loved by the audiences, and was commercially right up there with All Allo. This was a really challenging production, as the director is given little guidence within thew script on how to present the play, so although the words are all of Roger halls making, the play was very much brought to life by the director, Dimitri Gibara, who really excelled himself this time. For those who missed it - you missed a really good show.
17/05/2007Well, Take a chance on me is finally on stage, and it works! The reviewer loved it, the audience seems to apprieciate it, so we're all really pleased and happy. Get your tickets quick and come along and see the funniest show that'll be staged in Rangiora this year! If you are thinking of coming Thursday, getting tickets in advance is recommended!
19/03/2007The next production will be "Take a chance on me", the modern adult comedy by Roger Hall. This isn't 1970s Middle Aged Spread rehashed - this is set this century, a play about six people who were (but no longer are) married (but not to each other!), and what happens as they try to find love (or just a date) after marriage. Very, very, very funny. Performances will be at the Rangiora Town Hall, May 16th onwards. More information here.
16/11/2006Well, we completed Bedroom Farce, it went very well, was well attended and critically received. And we all had a load of fun. Can't ask for much more than that. So we now slide gently into planning for our next production, which will probably be staged around June 2007. Whatt is it? Can't say yet :) Mainly as it is still being discussed....
